Benefits of Aerial video and stills captured from drones

Unmanned Airborne vehicles (UAV) or drones are becoming more commonly used in aerial videography and photography because of the many benefits they bring to almost any project.

Aerial video and stills captured from drones are particularly beneficial for

  • Estate surveys
  • Selling properties
  • Promotional video
  • Photography for insurance
  • Large event coverage

However, there are a number of important essentials required of your aerial supplier including

  • Professional set up
  • Good quality gimbal
  • Photographic experience
  • Certified and insured operator

Common problems

Some videos you see online may have jerky movements, this will probably be due to a cheap UAV gimbal but it could be bad operating too.

The footage may appear too bright or the  exposure changes during the video clip. This is poor camera technique from an operator with little photographic experience.

The video maybe heavily distorted and look like a 'fish eye' lens. This is usually due to the use of a  GoPro camera which often distorts wide angle footage.

Video footage looking a little wobbly. This is called 'rolling' or 'jelly shutter' and only affects video. Again this is due to usage of a cheaper camera.

Professional  service with superb results.

  •  We don't provide such cheap footage with poor results as above. We offer quality aerial videography and stills at very affordable rates. No expensive helicopters or cranes needed. Our Octocopter is a state-of-the-art, carbon fibre, A8 configured flying rig with GPS control and a superbly smooth and balanced Zenmuse gimbal, which allows controlled, fluid and accurate movements. We record on board in full 1080p HD and up to 60 frames per second with Panasonic GH3. We shoot as a 2 man crew, one pilot and one camera operator, using a radio link to a monitor that the camera operator uses for composition and that the director can also check.
